| Facts: An old growth forest is a forest that has attained great age - not disturbed by logging or clearing - and exhibits unique biological features. These are sometimes referred to as "original", "virgin" or "ancient" forests and tend to have a high level of biodiversity. These forests tend to have many dead standing trees as well as logs on the forest floor. Old growth forests are becoming increasingly rare. |
