| Facts: Lenticular clouds are stationary lens shaped high altitude clouds. Technically they can be broken down into three groups: altocumulus standing lenticular, stratocumulus standing lenticular and cirrocumulus standing lenticular. Lenticular clouds are usually produced by an eddying wind near mountains. They are aligned at right angles to the wind and their saucer like shapes have led them to be mistaken as UFO's.
