| Caption: Row of moai statues on Easter Island in the South Pacific. |

 |
| Facts: This site is known as Ahu Tongariki. It has been restored and is the largest ahu on Easter Island (Rapa Nui). The statues top a burial platform and look inland from the sea. The decline of the Easter island civilization is thought to be due to the inhabitants destruction of the ecosystem - deforesting the island in order to erect the moai. |
