Image: Cabin and iceberg 2
Cabin and iceberg 2
Caption : Cabin and iceberg. Photographed in Newfoundland, Canada.
Facts: Newfoundland is a province of Canada - on the Atlantic coast - and is officially known as the province of "Newfoundland and Labrador". The population of the province is about 500,000. The icebergs found in Newfoundland usually originate in Western Greenland from a large number of iceberg producing glaciers. Icebergs are formed when large pieces of freshwater ice break off glaciers or ice-shelves. Usually only about 10 percent of an icebergs mass is above the waterline (leaving 90 percent of the iceberg below the water). Icebergs are comprised of fresh water and the blue color comes from ice that has no air bubbles.
