 |
| Facts: The VLA consists of 27 radio antennas each 25 meters in diameter. They are set out in a Y shaped railway network allowing the antennas to be moved. Two arms of this network are 21 kilometers long while the third is 19 kilometers long. The data from all the dishes can be combined using interferometry techniques to give the resolution of a 22 mile diameter antenna. |
