Facts: The primary mirror of Keck II is 10 meters in diameter and has an overall hexagonal shape. It is made up of 36 smaller hexagonal mirrors each 1.8 meters in diameter and controlled by computer. The telescope's signals can be combined with Keck I to obtain more accurate images. Both Keck I and Keck II are located at 4200 meters on the summit of the extinct volcano, Mauna Kea in the Hawaiian islands.
