| Facts: The Australia Telescope Compact Array consists of six 22 meter diameter antennas, each equipped with six 3 centimeter and thirteen 20 centimeter receivers. Five of the antennae are attached to a three kilometer long rail track and can be moved to different locations. The array is used for radio astronomy and the antennae can be combined to work as a single, large radio telescope. The array is operated by the Australia Telescope National Facility.
